The JMM led alliance has won the trust vote in the Jharkhand legislative assembly with 47 votes for the motion and 29 against it. 27 MLAs from JMM,17 of the congress and one each from RJD and CPML supported the JMM’s claim to form the government. So, Champai Soren wins Trust vote. Thus becoming the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand State.
After Champai Soren Placed the motion, a debate followed. During the debate the former Chief Minister Hemant Soren alleged that the Raj Bhavan was directly involved in his arrest. He was allowed to take part in the motion and vote by the court.
If this is true which is most likely the case, it signals a worrying trend in the opposition ruled states under the BJP government. These governors not only hamper in the daily business of the elected government but also play an active role to topple the same if such situations arise. This is a blatant misuse of the office which is supposed to only act on the aid and advise of the council of ministers.
